THE GREAT DARKENED DAYS "LA GRAND NOIRCEUR"

While a world war rages, Philippe, a draft-dodger from Quebec, takes refuge in the American West, surviving by competing in Charlie Chaplin impersonation contests. As Philippe makes his long journey home, he encounters various characters under the sway of a destructive madness born of the chaotic times. His voyage, both violent and fascinating, is a hallucinatory initiation to the darker side of the American Dream.

"Gradually works its magic as a beaten and bewildered Philippe enters the final phase of his long, strange trip."

- The Hollywood Reporter

"It's a testament to French-Canadian director Maxime Giroux's control over his material that, as seemingly random or absurd as the events and imagery in The Great Darkened Days may appear, they all feel ruled by a genuine and moving emotion at their core."

- Cinemascope
